It started with a shadow, a dark, looming figure that snuffed out the backyard light. For Isaac Sanchez, that creepy moment in 2020 marked the beginning of his deeper dive into the supernatural. Megan and Isaac Sanchez are the husband-and-wife team behind a rising force in paranormal investigations.

Their journey blends Megan’s lifelong psychic abilities with Isaac’s growing gift to draw energy from dark entities—a combination they use to help spirits find peace.

Turning a Passion into a Purpose

Megan’s experiences with the paranormal began in childhood. She often saw shadowy figures, had vivid dreams, and unknowingly shared insights about deceased family members during sleepovers. As she grew older, she tried to block those experiences, but her connection to the supernatural persisted.

“I’d have random moments of intrigue,” Megan said. “But I never really pursued it.”

For Isaac, living on a haunted ranch shaped his fascination with the unknown. Watching Ghost Adventures only deepened his curiosity.

“Living on that ranch was a major catalyst,” Isaac said. “But it wasn’t until I met Megan that my paranormal journey really took off.”

In 2020, the couple, who are based in Jacksonville, N.C., started a podcast called Not Your Average Conversation, covering a variety of topics. It wasn’t long before their paranormal-themed episodes gained traction. They pivoted, launching Hidden in the Shadows, a dedicated podcast about the supernatural. From there, they expanded into paranormal investigations.

Building a Path in Paranormal Investigation

Their investigative work began after connecting with local teams in North Carolina. Though early collaborations didn’t last, Megan and Isaac eventually found a team they connected with. After gaining experience, they set out on their own.

“Paranormal teams remind me a lot of bands,” Megan said. “You start on the same path, but eventually you might drift in different directions.”

Working alongside Canada-based Mike and Christie from Unknown Paranormal, Megan and Isaac now remotely assist with home cases. To date, they’ve worked on 53 remote investigations, blending Megan’s psychic abilities with Isaac’s energy-pulling gift.

Memorable Paranormal Encounters

For Isaac, one experience in 2020 solidified his role as a protector during investigations. On Halloween night, while grilling in the backyard, Isaac saw a shadowy figure block out the only light. A numb, tingling sensation shot down his arm, a warning that something dark was near.

“My right hand reached out almost instinctively,” Isaac said.

“It felt like lightning shooting down my arm. That’s when I realized I could pull energy from dark entities.”

For Megan, a pivotal moment came at North Carolina’s Webb Memorial Library. During an investigation, a book flew off a shelf — the same one she had envisioned before visiting. The spirit communicated its desire to “go home,” and Megan’s reading helped it cross over.

“It was the best moment,” Megan said. “Everything just clicked, and it confirmed I was on the right path.”

Preparing for Paranormal Investigations

Megan and Isaac take preparation seriously. Megan’s process often begins with energy readings before research.

“I can usually tell if a place will be a hot spot,” she said.

“Afterwards, I dive into archives, books, and records to connect the dots.”

Their research also taps into local folklore. In North Carolina, the couple has explored sites linked to Indigenous legends and eerie landmarks like the Brown Mountain Lights and the Devil’s Tramping Ground.

“We’d love to expand beyond North Carolina,” Megan said. “Our goal is to investigate across the U.S. and eventually go international.”

Balancing Skepticism and Belief

Megan’s psychic abilities help her distinguish between natural and paranormal activity.

“We’re both open-minded, but we also love science,” she said. “That balance keeps us grounded when reviewing evidence.”

Isaac’s role as “spiritual security” gives him a unique advantage.

“When things get too intense, I put out the flame,” Isaac said. “I’ve yet to meet a dark entity I couldn’t handle.”

Tools of the Trade

While their abilities take priority, Megan and Isaac also use traditional tools during investigations. Spirit boxes, digital recorders, and body cameras capture evidence. Megan’s preferred method is a modified version of the Estes Method, where she channels white noise while Isaac asks questions.

“It’s like I turn myself into a spirit box,” Megan said.

The Heart of Their Work

For Megan and Isaac, paranormal investigation isn’t about chasing fame. It’s about helping spirits find peace.

“There are three kinds of paranormal teams,” Isaac said. “Clout chasers, true investigators who seek answers, and teams like ours that focus on helping spirits move on.”

Their mission is clear: to leave locations less haunted than they were before.
